I’m Cam, the owner of Latch Build. My journey into the building industry began on a lifestyle block in Drury, where I spent countless hours helping my dad, an engineer and handyman, in the shed. Those formative years instilled in me a love for crafting and problem-solving, and when I moved to Wanaka to finish school, I fell in love with the breathtaking outdoors and the amazing community.

After completing my apprenticeship with Tony Quirk, a well-respected builder in the area, I honed my skills on high-end architecturally designed homes. My passion for building took me overseas to London, where I tackled unique projects like creating basements in bustling neighbourhoods. Leading big budget operations , and teams with diverse cultures from all over Europe, this broadened my skill set and deepened my appreciation for the craft.

In 2017, I returned to Wanaka. After years of learning and growing, I decided to start my own business in 2022, driven by the desire for family freedom with my wife Tara and our two sons, Angus and Hamish.

With over 18 years in the industry there’s no problem that I haven’t seen and been able to problem solve.

When I’m not building, you can find me camping with my family in our little caravan,  snowboarding up Treble cone, or mountain biking on one of the many tracks around Wanaka.
